Cultural Activities 

Through its cultural initiatives, the Laboratory aims to reach a broader audience beyond the scientific and technical community and to deepen public understanding of the dynamics and interactions between rural areas and society. The Sismondi Laboratory also seeks to foster interest in research among young people by establishing thesis awards and collaborating with young researchers and students. In 2016, it launched the first edition of the “Diego Pinducciu and Antonella Ara Award”: by recognising theses and multimedia projects, the Laboratory honoured the work, research activities on the valorisation and protection of agricultural resources and rural territories, and the civic commitment of its friends, colleagues, and founding members Diego Pinducciu and Antonella Ara, who passed away prematurely.

Conferences 

Over the years, the Laboratory has organised conferences, events, seminars, and workshops, and has also taken part in initiatives organised by third parties. Some of the most recent events include:  

– 22 June 2024: Wine Tourism in Tuscany: Dynamics and Perspectives 

– 27 October 2023: Slow Beans, Frantoio del Compitese, Capannori (LU)

Collaborations with Associations and Local Institutions

The Laboratory collaborates with organisations and institutions engaged in agricultural and rural development. Recent collaborations include:

– 2024–2025: development of the PETI (Integrated Territorial Economic Plan) for the *Terre Apuane* Organic District
